hex code for dummies

my head is swimming in code.  thanks, codeacademy!

for realsies, though, i've learned so much this past week.  the html and css course is really useful.  you'll see the by-products of what i've learned in the mini-tweaks to the layout and general style of the blog.

for those of you who don't know what codeacademy is - which was me not too long ago - the site offers you online and interactive modules on popular web languages and developer skills.

unrelated: last night's dinner, just because.
for languages there's the html & css module i'm in, as well as javascript, ruby, python, php, and jquery courses.  you could also focus more directly on website-building. once you've got some of the languages down, you can use that knowledge to spring into using api's to make apps.  (um, yeah, kinda not sure what those are just yet.)

all in all, if you're ready to get your code on, codeacademy's a great place to start.  totally free and you get little badge things to flaunt once you've completed a lesson or course: if that's to your liking.

a quick "on the other fronts" - we went to the coffee and tea festival in brookyln on saturday and then spent the afternoon and evening with jill and her boyfriend chris in queens.  the festival itself was kind of a drag for me this year for a number of reasons, but queens was fantastic!  we had dinner at a tiny little crepe place in astoria and enjoyed some good company. definitely will be trying to get there more often now that we've seen how easy it is to get to their neighborhood.

this week: i'm writing 7 letters to 7 awesome people/couples. the plan was to send one out every day this week but yeahhhhh. since i didn't write one yesterday i thought that 7 for the week would suffice.
