a future together

i know i said this would be a sunday post but i've had my share of inspiration tonight.  thanks, alcoholic lemonades and tori amos.

thursday's focus:  work.  work through the mishmash of psychic brouhaha. forgive and let go.  abide in silence, glorious and golden.  speak no ill but take no shit.  try and try and try.  go wild and go free.  read those books and fight on, bettering yourself every day.

friday's focus: preparation.  good things are coming.  trips. produce. change. beach run at night with good friends. celebrations of all sorts and for all different loved ones.  make room.  make space for the change.  look at the ugly things and make space for them, too.

saturday's focus: abundance.  time to stop and smell the roses and acknowledge that the grass is always greener where you water it.  let the bygones be bygones and don't feel bad about shedding the weight of them. embrace the fecundity of summer growth in whatever form it takes.

now that i've fulfilled my fortune cookie duties, this week: i will try new hairstyles.  one of those "new" styles may be a hair cut this weekend.  we shall see.

til then, toodles and sweet dreams.

blips and blops

laundry day is a very dangerous day. snaps if you know that reference!

we stopped to catch our collective breath this weekend by committing to as few visits as possible. still managed to grab dinner at the incomparable casa luna downtown and visited both sets of parents. coco is exhausted.  she's also 1 year old (as of yesterday)!  the little love bug is so precious to us... our first "child".
the week after graduation is one of the best on campus.  everyone is a little friendlier.  we linger outside on our lunch breaks, make more eye contact with those of us who are still here.  after all, we survived the crush of the end of the semester.  i'm a little nicer, too.

this week's photos, thus far, and a thought accompanying each.

sunday's focus:  being outdoors and enjoying time with family. we barbecued into the night up at the in-law's house. lots of open grass, a clear sky and gorgeous sunset.  the neighbors played dueling soundtracks and the crackle of the grill's coals permeated the dense, summer evening heat.

monday focus:  peonies from mom's garden.  it was such a pleasant evening that i spent much of it outside, listening to the breeze and snapping photos. this one isn't magnificently centered - definitely did not abide by the rule of thirds, but i like it. so much beauty in the world in small and often overlooked places.

tuesday focus:  coco's birthday bones and cannoli.  she is spoiled, i know, but i have no deeper love than the love i have for her.  she makes the rough times bearable and the great times that much more enjoyable.  the day we first saw her was a turning point in my life.  she's also terribly cute and playful.  check out recent instagram photos and videos for proof!

wednesday focus:  at my core, i live in self-created space.  i need immersion in it order to make art, write poems, sing well.  the photo on the right is from my proudest moment, when i turned it all around and felt brave for the very first time.  like ever.  i like to remind myself of that day when i need to feel bad ass and powerful.  first ever instance of cliff jumping, too.

thursday, friday, saturday coming up on sunday!
