you best not miss

holy july, batman.  we're pushing through summer pretty quickly and burning the candle at both ends.

last week was another nutty one. on tuesday night, juan and i stayed up until midnight to make refrigerator pickles for this past week's project.  what we turned out wasn't just one variety, but three.  the radish/carrot mix was inspired by this recipe and a mass quantity of black beans.

the four kirby cucumbers from our CSA box lent themselves to garlic dill spears and a projected 4 jars doubled to 8 with the addition of store-bought cukes.  we used this recipe.

juan also improvised a pickled beets recipes with some of the leftover spices.  should be an interesting taste when all is said and done.

pickles aside, things were about to get cray.  wednesday brought more car trouble and what ensued was a mad dash down to campus for a 5-minute delivery of paperwork, a trip to johnny's hot dogs for birch beer, and a jaunt over to a venue site just to see how the ride would be.  all with coco.  all after a bunch of emails and calls to ensure that all was not going to crap.  it didn't!

thursday was repair day.  hello, new alternator, and goodbye, $700.  jessica (my car) cost me a pretty penny this week but i'm thankful for being mobile!  on friday i started watching the wire.  it's true love. margaret's bachelorette party was saturday and we had a fantastic time. the addition of crazy sheets of rain and flooding made the night even more memorable. and sunday, lovely sunday, was a day of rest.

this week:  i'm using one cup, one plate, one fork/spoon at home and will be trying to improve my economy of movement and waste as little as i can.
