the great outdoors

greetings from my recently tanned arms.  long time, no post.  i'm cool with that.

april's winding down on the right foot and the weather has been beautiful.   spring has been a long a time coming this year.  we've all needed it.  this winter took a chunk out of many.

weather and sunshine change a lot for me. in almost thirty years i’ve learned that i have two mental zones.  if i’m on top of my game i’ll push through all of my work with ease.  there's not a lot of complaining or judging.  it just all gets done.  on the other hand, if i’m not feeling all that well, procrastination set in.  there's a lot of judging of myself and that same lens is turned outward.  every task that renders me the least bit vulnerable is shoved to the bottom of the queue.

i hate being vulnerable now, but this wasn't always the case.  maybe i was actually too vulnerable, too ready to mea the culpa for the sake of peace and at my own expense.  now i avoid troubles when i even barely get glimpse of them on the horizon.  so it was time to go outside and let all that crap out to feel the light of the sun.  dig it up.

at work my friend laura and i try to take walks around campus whenever weather and our schedules permit.  most of the time i'm the one bailing.  it is our busy time of year afterall.  at home i relished an extra two or three laps around the apartment complex with coco.  that dog is extra happy when she's running through the grass.  like a little snorting rabbit.

juan and i went to the foodtruck meet-up with coco last saturday and met up with christa and my sister and her boyfriend.  the event was a great idea on paper but the wait for any one truck was at least 40 minutes in the open sun.  with a dog in tow and no sunblock (yeah, i underestimated the the lack of cloud cover), it just wasn't worth staying for.   after we snagged much needed smoothies for a blood sugar boost we bailed.

and bonus pictures of my funburn and coco "driving" to the foodtruck event.

this week's project is already mostly over and i'm still prepping to kick things up a notch after grocery shopping.  finally getting through some of the items on my "to cook" and "to sweeten" pinterest boards.
