i hope you dance?

restraint. the theme of the week. of, maybe, a few months.
i'm usually not afraid to say what i feel or what needs to be said.  as time goes by and circumstances change, i've started focusing on making me a better version of myself instead. admittedly, i lost the plot a bit there for a while, but doesn't everyone?

so back to dancing.

even though i wasn't ever going to be a ballerina by build or by skill, i liked the emphasis of control over my movements, all slow and calculated. when i need to zone into something greater than myself i'll start dropping into ballet positions.

samba, on the other hand, is supposed to look effortless. unsurprisingly, it is really freaking difficult for me to get down. i'm going to be spending a lot of time getting the footwork up to speed before i feel confident showing anything off. my foot coordination is not the best. but hey! i can see how fun it'll be once i work it out.

i've found cumbia to be much easier. it helps to have a dance partner who's been dancing for years and who knows when to push me to try harder and when to let me be silly. (love you, juan!)

and, because i'm a dork, i learned how to dougie. i haven't felt this un-hip in a while!

this week: "new" galaxy note allows me to get back to duolingo and i'm super excited!
