we have been in the apartment for three days now. everything is slowly coming together, and though we're completed exhausted (and i've had my share of anxiety freak-outs), juan and i are both feeling much happier now that we can see each other every day instead of twice a week. sleeping on a mattress instead of the floor helps, too.
there is a pile of torn-up cardboard about three feet high in our living room. the couch is similarly in pieces, clustered up in the corner. the bed's not assembled but we've transitioned from sleeping on top of blankets and mats on the floors to our very own mattress. it's the small things in life, babies. let those small things carry you through the rest of whatevers until you get to where you're going, and then keep on moving.
i have to tell you: i never thought that moving out would happen. even a few days before the move (when i was getting everything packed), it still wasn't real, in the way that you have to pinch yourself a few times before your hard focus loosens up to the soft gaze of acceptance. it's a massive, massive shift in frame of mind and it's rad.
coco has not come to live with us yet since there are trinkets and unboxed belongings everywhere. she's staying with my parents and enjoying being part of "the pack" with rupert and lana. it makes us happy to see her happy, and though we're excited to have her with us, we (read: me) are feeling nervous to put her through some serious separation anxiety during the days. the good news is that she's got a lot of toys and treats to keep her company and she loves to sleep. i'm hoping she gets used to her alone time within a week or two. her crying and whining really strikes the mommy nerve in me. (tell me again how and why people want to have kids and feel like this times 10?)
i forgot to take photos of the of the current messes last night since i got in late, but i will be sure to upload pictures of the *completed* couch and/or bed frame today. it's whole-lotta-building day for us!
edit: here are shots of the the kitchen before move in and the newly assembled couch!
