week four: the inevitable slump

it's a monday.  there was not enough tea in the world to bring me completely back to civilization this morning, but i fought the good fight and made it to lunch and to almost-home.

two (or more) poems are still sitting in my mind. i haven't found the right words to bring them down to the page or keyboard.  this week i learned to be patient with my creative self; ideas can't be forced, but paying a gentle and consistent attention to them has yielded some pretty good stuff, not all of which will be posted.

being careful with myself is a learned behavior and one that i need to practice constantly.  it's not easy.  i'm my own biggest critic.  the fact that i've shared anything openly in spite of these feelings makes me feel stronger somehow.  it's good to be vulnerable on occasion, i think.

this week: so i'm buying myself flowers - or a plant.  i haven't decided which kinds or where they'll stay, but i've wanted to get a bouquet "just because" for as long as i've been romantically inclined.  thankfully, juan is wonderful and buys me flowers (or pies!) just because sometimes.  it's time that i learn to treat myself to niceties, too.

toodles!

  1. I bought myself a small bouquet at the grocery store this week. It was fun arranging them in a jar and it really adds a little something to the room. Post a pic of what you get!
